Review of 'Trauma and recovery' on 'Goodreads'

I am not used to reading books about my speciality written in this way. It starts with a fascinating explanation of the history of psychology in relation to trauma with special emphasis on all forms of violence against women.

The author wrote this book with a strong feminist perspective as opposed to the usual dispassionate style of scientific texts. She doesn't discuss the results of a single randomised control trial but considers a single testimony from a victim a source of great insight into peoples' psyche.

Although, I don't enjoy ideologically inspired books, it's a very informative explanation of a therapist collective experience and the historical circumstances surrounding trauma psychology.
