Been reading for a VERY long time. Science Fiction and Fantasy were my first loves; I do love a good Cozy Mystery now that I am older. Knitting, reading, and a cup of tea all sound grand.

reviewed The wedding shawl by Sally Goldenbaum (Kennebec Large Print superior collection)

Definitely another great read - and as usual I recommend reading them in order.

I do love the anti-diet dialogue and that the bride wants things kept very simple. I also love that these books are ones where women have true and deep friendships.

In particular, this book is one where I didn't figure out the murderer until right before the protagonist figures it out; unusual for me!

I read about a quarter of the book. The main character is a horrid creep - and I don't care if he changes. Buh-bye!

James Miranda: Murder Past Due (Cat in the Stacks #1) (Paperback, 2010, Berkley)

Review of 'Murder Past Due (Cat in the Stacks #1)' on 'Goodreads'

Parts of this were intriguing, and I will read the second one in the series and then we shall see. Trigger Warnings for Diet Culture; and there was definitely some misogyny in the story. There were unanswered questions about some of the things that happened on the way to the ending. I did like the detective, even though the author was not highly flattering to her.

Karen White, Lauren Elliott: Murder by the Book (AudiobookFormat, 2018, Tantor Audio)

Review of 'Murder by the Book' on 'Goodreads'

I read 23% of this book before deciding I was done. Wow, so abysmally bad. Clueless heroine and the lack of total understanding by the author of how the world works. You wouldn't start a business without doing market research or even knowing who else was in the building, or what other kinds of businesses there were... She seems to have started a business to sell what was in her great aunt's house, without a plan nor an idea for ongoing business. Also, the police chief needs to look up the word recuse.

AARGH!

36% for this book and I am done. It's even worse than the first one. Unlikable and unrealistic main character. Reading the book is like wading through marshmallow.
