Review of 'Sugar and Vice' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

I was nervous about this book. New authors often have a lot of time to write their first books - and then rush out a sequel that doesn't live up to the first one. I am glad to note that this is not the case for the Cookie House Mystery series.

This book continues in the same vein as the first book - so if you liked the first one, you will probably like this one. There are some interesting clues. There is the added complication of Kate's ex showing up.

I do have to have a suspension of my disbelief over how little time they seem to actually spend baking. And how many cookies Kate seems to give away. That seems... truly fictional. Of course, Kate's magical ability to sense someone's favorite cookie by looking at them, and Mr. Oliver's understanding of human vocabulary are already causing some magic, so I can give them the rest for some charming stories...
