Jack Lowery: It Was Vulgar and It Was Beautiful (2022, PublicAffairs) No rating

I just finished reading "It Was Vulgar and It Was Beautiful: How AIDS Activists Used Art to Fight a Pandemic," by Jack Lowery. It's mainly about Gran Fury, an affinity group within ACT UP. It's one of the better books I've read on AIDS activism - their anger bleeds through onto every page.

We still need to be angry. About a third of Americans living with HIV are not receiving medical care for it, and every year, thirteen thousand Americans are lost to what is now a largely preventable death. The epidemic has not gone anywhere. AIDS isn't over for anybody until it's over for everybody.
