Jason Rekulak: Hidden Pictures (Hardcover)

A mystery about a woman working as a nanny for a young boy with strange …

I loved Jason Rekulak's The Impossible Fortress so knew that I had to read this. Hidden Pictures is a very different novel to The Impossible Fortress which is a nostalgic trip back to 1987 and the lives of three fourteen-year-old boys and the girl who gets caught up in their drama.

Hidden Pictures is a contemporary novel focusing on recovering opioid addict Mallory as she takes a summer job looking after a young boy. There are supernatural and horror elements, crimes and mysteries to be solved, and a lot for Mallory to work through as she navigates the world sober.

I really enjoyed this new adult novel. I'd love to say more but there were several twists and turns in the novel and it would be a crime to give any of them away. If you enjoy creepy tales with creepy children and ex-junkies who think they're losing their minds, then you'll love Hidden Pictures. I'm very glad I picked this up and look forward to Rekulak's next release.
