Laage reviewed Saturday by Ian McEwan
Review of 'Saturday' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
As hinted by the title, Saturday deals with a single day in the life of neurosurgeon Henry Perowne. The day starts off early with Henry witnessing a burning plane falling towards Heathrow airport, fuelling speculations about terrorism and war - the novel is set before the invasion of Iraq.
Terror and violence in the abstract and distant as well as the concrete and personal affects not only Henry but also his family during this Saturday.
