This was a good read. A bit slow at first, but the short vignettes at the beginning, which were individual stories with very loose connections to other stories set the stage for the main story, which is basically a murder investigation novella. Lots of introspection by whichever character is narrating, and I have to say there seems to be something really strange about Irish men in the 60s because they have a lot of internal problems!
