I checked it out on a whim and read it all the way through, but it was kind of like a nighttime soap opera without all the juicy sex and scheming.
Reviews and Comments
I'm a middle-aged, eclectic book reader who enjoys both physical/paper books and audiobooks from lots of genres. I'm especially partial to all manner of science fiction, as well as nonfiction books on sociology, psychology and zen. I also love a good short story.
In my experience, book people are generally good people. Happy to be here.

Well researched and written
5 stars
I picked this up to get some basic knowledge of the Chupacabra for a project I'm working on and found this book to be extremely useful as an overview of the topic. Written from a skeptical, scientific point of view, the author is brutally honest about where facts are ignored and overlooked. At the same time, he comes at the subject with genuine interest and enthusiasm. I enjoyed reading this a lot more than I thought I would.

Excellent!
5 stars
I have never read a Stephen King book in my life but I enjoy reading about writers' experiences with their craft. This book was wonderful. Part memoir, part nuts-and-bolts practical advice, it was thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. So much so that now I'm waiting on a couple his fiction books at the library. Who knows, maybe I'll turn into a fan?

Well-written, very disturbing

I'm not a JM fan or anything but my kids watched that show. I just needed a quick palate cleanser and this was available from the library. I'm glad I read it though. I have a lot of respect for her now.

The writing is excellent and far exceeded my expectations.

Honestly, I'm not sure how we as a society can continue justifying permitting kids in the entertainment industry. It's always bad. ALWAYS.
Amanda Quraishi reviewed On Writing (and Writers)
Surprisingly enjoyable
5 stars
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy C.S. Lewis' writing in general, but I assumed this would just be a stuffy book of 'wisdom' from a person who wrote in a bygone era. Instead it is filled with practical advice, as well as some delicious opinions about other writers. Don't miss the section where he fanboys out like crazy over Tolkien. Good stuff.

A perfect novel.

Not too long, not to short. Her writing is tight and I wasn't bored for even a second. She weaves together the different storylines perfectly and by the end, it's a marvelous piece of speculative fiction that hangs with you for days after you're finished. I loved it.
Amanda Quraishi reviewed Villa Incognito by Tom Robbins
Tom Robbins does it again.
4 stars
I love pretty much everything he's written, so of course I enjoyed Villa Incognito. I give it four stars just because comparing it to his other books I've read, it wasn't my absolute fav - but still - a great read by an absolute ninja of the English language.
