When I saw the accolades this novel had, I was still a little suspicious of the title. Was this just going to be a somewhat cheap and trashy novel? In the end, I devoured this book in a day and a half, not quite sure if my question at the beginning was still applicable.

I really like twists. I often write twists in my own stories. I think I blame Jodi Picoult for my love of twists. When the first twist appeared in the book, I was a little confused. I never saw it coming and my mind was working overtime to try to figure out how it worked. I couldn't get it to work.

The subsequent twists were a lot more satisfying. When I realized that things weren't as they seemed, as the summary hinted at, I was in the thick of it. My reading quickened. The last twist, however, seemed cheap. I wasn't sure if it was enough of a blow to invalidate the whole book. Suddenly the novel felt like a Jodi Picoult novel: formulaic and a bit over-manufactured. Still, the journey was entertaining. I hadn't devoured a book like that in a long time.
