Set in the far future of 2010, this 1980 novel is not afraid to commit to technological and geopolitical changes 30 years ahead.

We spend most of the novel in a beautifully familiar Scottish rural town and nearby castle. But the stakes are high: our recently developed time communication technology must be employed to save the world — by changing the past. Multiple times?!

But really the stakes are, will the fated couple manage to stay together this time? Will they even get the opportunity, or will temporal meddlings (to save the world) thwart their meeting?

I read this some time in the 1980s, returned it, and never saw it again. This year, a loved one got it for me as a gift. It was wonderful to rediscover the neatly told time shenanigans.

I loved this translation, that somewhat preserves the unusual meter of the original, and definitely gave the bombast and bardic delivery of a saga to be read aloud in the central hall.

Received this as a gift, after describing it from my memories reading it as a teenager.

After communicating with the author, I got this from a University bookstore for a reasonable price. Looking forward to it!
