Review of 'Jane Eyre' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

Designed for 8-11 year old readers, Sweet Cherry Publishing and Stephanie Baudet have done it again with these easy to follow adaptations of two of the most famous tales from the Brontë sisters featuring wonderfully colourful illustrated by Arianna Bellucci.

What I love about the way Baudet adapts a novel is that she doesn't lose any of the integrity of the original whilst breathing fresh air into it. In the case of Jane Eyre, the second in this series (I do hope there will be more like those about Sherlock Holmes), you are taken along through our protagonist's life from grieving orphan to finding her happy ever after, the events that occur to make Jane be the loving and kind young woman she is without weighing the story down nor making the reader afraid. (I for one as a young reader of 12 was scared after her being locked in the room her Uncle passed in for example; sorry for the minor spoiler for the original.)

This is a wonderful book and I loved having the opportunity to review it, Stephanie Baudet is a genius at what she does.
