I picked this up because I loved The Moor's Account. The Other Americans is very different. This is a contemporary novel very much structured like the movie Amores Perros. It starts with a hit and run and from there weaves the narratives of multiple people affected directly or indirectly by it. All these other Americans have different backgrounds but they all have a story that gets tied into a web of connections that keep the reader interesting and guessing.

Note: this is NOT a murder mystery. The hit and run is the starting point but this is a character-driven narrative.
