I’ve recently read the “a court of thorns and roses”-series and, despite the different setting and story; a lot of things seem just the same in this book. The characters don’t feel new; they talk the same, act the same and reacts the same. Especially the main characters and that’s a bit boring. I think I would have liked the book a lot better if this had been my first Maas book. Another thing that kept bugging me was how this “different” world has so much of our modern world in it (mostly from USA), like holidays, customs, trends, technology, only with different names. It gets ridiculous many times. Especially when Maas has used ALL fairy tale creatures. How can so much in this world be exactly the same as ours?! Read it to get to the second book

It was ok and easy to get through, but nothing spectacular. It is, however, necessary to get through, to get to book two. It’s worth it for the second book, which is a whole lot better!
