This is the second George Smiley book, and it has nothing to do with espionage. It's a murder mystery set in an English public school.

Phil Harrison reviewed Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin
A bit of a slog
2 stars
I tried to like this book, but I just lost interest.
After reading all the Song of Ice and Fire series and the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms stories, I decided to tackle this heavy tome. This is the early history of the Targaryan family, written in the style of a history book. And that's really the problem with it, there's no real character development, it's just a chronological sequence of events. It might be of interest to die hard Westoros fans, but not a enthralling read.

Phil Harrison commented on Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin
This is written more like a history book than a novel, so it's a bit more heavy going than the Song of Ice and Fire series.
I think if I hadn't read the other books and A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms already, I would have given up on it. It's nicely illustrated though.
