Michael Connelly: Desert Star 4 stars

Predictable, feels rushed

3 stars

As usual in MIchael Connelly's books, there's more than one mystery. The book, however, seem to only have space for one, causing things to feel a little rushed.

The attempted surprises seemed pretty obvious to me.

Overall, it was entertaining, but less than previous books.

The best thing for me was that I bought a Kindle e-book that came with an Audible narration. When I needed to stop reading and run errands, I could just pop the book in my car and keep listening. It was cool how Audible synchronized with Kindle - I popped my phone in and it started exactly where I had stopped on Kindle.

Michael Lewis: Liar's Poker (1990, Penguin Books) 4 stars

Liar's Poker is a non-fiction, semi-autobiographical book by Michael Lewis describing the author's experiences as …

Worth the effort

5 stars

I had tried to read this book before, but couldn't get over the (very long) training part. After listening to Michael Lewis' podcast, where he makes fun of how long this chapter was and how inexperienced he was when writing this book, I decided to give it another try.

It was worth it - it was a very good book. I have been in megacorps for a long time and in Finance for some time. Michael does a great job of representing the egos and the senseless interests that affect thousands and sometimes millions of lives.
