I definitely am no longer wearing the nostalgia goggles. The shine of WoT wore off with book 3, and it's not fully returned for book 4. The good stuff was very good, mostly everything regarding Rand directly, the bad stuff was pretty bad, especially the interpersonal relationships again. I am not sure what experiences the author's made in his life that people who are supposed to be romantically inclined or friends are all incredibly antagonistic towards each other. Like the whole first part with Faile and Perrin had me go WTF non-stop. I have moped about Nynaeve's tic of pulling on her hair before and it continues to irritate the shit out of me.

The world continues to be fascinating, the characters are for the most part dipshits. The world deserves better characters, to be honest.
