My history of cyberculture started at Steve Levy's "Hackers." Until now.
@kinnerc What's the time period this describes? It's been on my reading list for a while now and I'm very interested in hearing how you think it compares to Hackers.
@73ms Actually it's near the same time period, perhaps 5 years before what Levy described in "Hackers." While Levy, in my memory, really stuck to the culture that was created, "Orange Glow," certainly in the beginning, is the story of the computer system, and how it was created. This is pretty good, for me, since PLATO was created on the CDC series computers. I was a PDP boy, myself.
The second part, which I'm just getting into, starts to get into the culture.
