Last night I attended a VERY amusing talk on local kiwi politics in the 1800s, which was a screeching catfight involving outraged conflammery, raspberrying skullduggery and AFRONTED councillors who frequently CLUTCHED their metaphorical pearls and stormed home to write STRONG LETTERS to the editor.

"They'll never overturn Roe V. Wade..."
'They'll never ban books..."

When will we learn to stop saying 'they'll never do this/that/the other thing' and start voting as if we believe they will? When they say they'll 'take a look' at something if elected, BELIEVE THEM.

"They'll never touch Medicare or Social Security..." -wanna make a bet?

This is a little reminder that, with both:
A) a general election due this year; and
B) Conservative voter suppression legislation in force;
It is important that you check that you have up-to-date ID (e.g. passport), otherwise your democratic right to vote will be taken away from you. Given backlogs, best to apply for any renewals now, rather than wait until the election is called.
