Disappointing, after over a year of wanting to read this book (since seeing it at the Soup Library at a festival) I finally bought a copy from amazon and read it at a festival. The actual idea is great, the writing is ok, if a little dated, but the story, which starts well, just goes all over the place. It can't seem to decide if it's a thriller, a comedy, a cunning sociological take on festival life in the 60s or what it is. It's a mess. A real shame. The plot races along with huge gaps and obvious inconsistencies, so much actual science seems like rubbish and the legal aspect is just silly. To summarise, it's a quick very silly read with a tiny glimpse into what festivals started as in the 60s but bears no resemblance to festivals now...or indeed to reality!
