Review of "Frenchman's Creek" on 'Goodreads'

The book was well written. At the time it was written it probably felt new and exciting but in 2021 it feels clichéd and predictable. Never having read it or seen the film(s) I still easily guessed the ending. The characters are slightly nuanced but I felt they could be more so, and the husband finds himself suddenly having a soft side and a back story just when we had been taught to dislike him. But maybe that's because we see him initially through Dona's eyes.
Any way it's a fun romp with frilly dresses and handsome pirates, and as always some lovely descriptions of grand houses.
