I listened to the audiobook version, as the author read it. Not all authors are good at reading their own works, but this felt like natural story-telling. It was a nice addition to the writing, being able to hear the mood. Sometimes, a little laugh before something she found funny, or a slightly raised voice at others.
Oddly, the couple times that her lyrics are read, they're read quite flat. Which is really funny to me with repeated lines, for instance. I think maybe this was a production choice.

I missed much of what I think of as the 90s Pacific Northwest music scene, and missed Bikini Kill (and Nirvana and the rest) as I was interested in other genres.
