If I had a nickel for every time I consumed media about a virus which makes part of the human population sterile to save the world, I'd have two nickels. Watch the show Utopia. It's on Amazon Prime. Don't watch the third season because it's a bad reboot.
Inferno mostly reads like a tour guide through Italy and Turkey. So much of the book was about particular historical or geographical fact that eventually the story became extremely thin. While it may have been very well researched in fact the fact wasn't very well integrated into the plot beyond "Robert Langdon is here now where blah blah blah happened years ago or here's some information about the nearest landmark."

Definite improvement from his previous work.
The historicity and thrilling nature of the book makes this a fun read. Probably less believable than his others, especially in the denouement, but it has some surprising twists and turns that compensate. Fans of his work will enjoy this.
