The first time I tried to read this book about 10 years ago I hated it. It seemed obvious and filled with anecdote after anecdote. So I put it down.
I came back when I was older after having many people that I respect tell me it is one of the best books on interpersonal relationships ever written and it reads completely different. When I was younger I didn't know the people he was talking about, much less respect them for what they did. Comeing back to it, it really opened my eyes to how I should interact with people. This book is especially important if you have spent too much time on the internet telling others that they are wrong. You get addicted to that feeling and it begins to spill over into your "real life" as well. Which has predictable results. I came to realize that I wasn't being clever or witty, I was just being mean and rude.
This is a book that you should read again and again to make sure that you are checking yourself and your character as you move through life. I would highly recommend this book even if you gave it a shot in the past and hated it. The principals in here are simple and obvious yes, but you need to examine yourself and see how you are applying it on a continuous basis.
Wonderful book that I would highly recommend for anyone that has to deal with people. Which is just about anyone. Follow these principals and you will have tact and gain respect from those you interact with.
