Part two of this series starts to bring the questions of what consciousness means and how it is defined further to the forefront that the first book; questions of what makes it happen and if other species also have it. The book won't answer those questions for you, but it certainly gives you something to think about when you put it down.
The separate story lines in the first book are finally starting to converge and I expect they will finally come together in the conclusion of the third book. Also, it seemed to me that after the halfway mark the pace of this story finally picked up, something that wasn't true with the first one.
Now the part that will make some people barf while reading: the teenage love crap. Seriously, I could have done without it in reading a story about …
