The book's core concept is that our society urgently needs new dreams. A new utopia.
In the Western world, and more and more also in the rest of the world, we are living the dream of the generations before us. We live in luxury and our lives are longer then ever.
However, we don't really have any ideas of where to go with our society. We have been at a standstill for some time.
Rutger Bregman proposes a number of (sort-of) new ideas, like:
a base income for every one, no questions asked
rethinking the tax system
* eradicating poverty
It's a pretty light and certainly interesting read.
