Okay, I have to admit that I'm quite biased because I love Colin Jost, I have a crush on Colin Jost (no, those two are not the same things), and Colin Jost is my favourite SNL cast member.
Moving along.
I really liked this book. I didn't know what to expect. When I found out Jost went to Harvard (this was before I read the book), I kinda just dismissed it like, "Okay, another rich white guy getting into Harvard, big deal." (You have to read the "Okay" in Jost's voice). Then I read this book and I was like, "Well... I was wrong." Turns out Jost isn't white! (I am kidding, that was a joke. Wow, I could never be a comedian. Also Jost writes a lot of these style of asides and that is just sooo my kind of humour).
I learned a lot about Jost that fits into a lot of what I perceive of him. He even acknowledges this in his book, hah.
Admittedly the actual writing in this is not great. There isn't one cohesive narrative thread but is more like a bunch of snapshots of Colin's life. But the jokes are great!
One of the things though that I really took away from this memoir is that Jost works hard. There is a reason why comedians usually turn out to be drug addicts (Jost says he tries to tone it down these days with the drugs but is that really true or is that just Jost trying to cover his ass...). But I have a new admiration for Jost and comedians alike. It's honestly inspirational.
