Review of 'Philadelphia, Here I Come!' on 'Goodreads'

Pleasant, but nothing to write home about. No pun intended. A play set in smalltown Ireland in the 1960s, the night before Gar O'Donnell plans to leave for America. It reveals his relationship with his father, his dead mother, his ex-fiancée, and other reasons to leave home, but Gar still has his doubts. The weird thing about the play is Gar is played by two characters, one representing his external actions, and the other his internal monologue, so you experience Gar's viewpoint in the same way you might in a novel rather than a play.
