A Science-Infused Self Help Book

If you're looking for a self-help book on ADHD this one is at least scientifically informed, although there are some ethical red flags here (e.g. recommending by name a dietary supplement that sponsored an author's podcast, despite generic versions being available). If instead you want more information on the underlying neurotype, however, you'll find a bit of information in one chapter followed by many sections of mostly meaningless jargon ("strengthen your neural networks" made me wince). You're probably better off reading a few introductory scientific papers on the topic.

A good primer for the newly diagnosed or self-diagnosed ADHDer and their loved ones.

I read this book after a friend recommended it to me following my diagnosis. I found this book helpful in understanding the basic mechanisms of ADHD, why I flew under the radar for so long, and a few initial tools for managing my ADHD. I can see this also being informative for loved ones and carers to gain insight into the brain of the ADHDers in their life. It's not the end-all be-all of ADHD guides, but it's a great place to start.
