Review of 'Princes at war' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
Instead of focusing on just the king or the former king, this book looks at the four surviving sons of George V as a whole during the WWII. I initially picked this up because I wanted more information on George and Marina, the Duke and Duchess of Kent. Instead, I found one of the best outlines of the course of WWII and learned a good deal more about the initial Nazi attack on France. I also enjoyed the extensive use of material from the Royal Archives, particularly George VI's diary entries detailing the war efforts. I would have liked to see more on Alice and Marina, wives of the Duke of Gloucester and Duke of Kent.
