This wasn't the book I was hoping for. Somehow, I think, as the 1st anniversary of my father's death fast approaches, I was hoping for some sort of virtual reconnection by way of a father-son bonding story. Well, that was probably not going to work out. Neither my father nor I were sports minded. We never went to any baseball game, to say nothing of any major league game. In the end Mike's son Matt - and honestly, at the age the did their baseball trips, he should have - was a whiny brat and Mike managed to portray himself as a put-upon father. Weirdly enough, for my money, the best writing of the book was the Epilogue that Matt wrote a couple years after the trip. No longer the whiny brat, he was wise writing his own words.
