4 stars
The first part of this book was incredibly good, like, phenomenal 6/5 stars.
The little flashback vignettes were a fantastic way to explain each character’s perspective and how they both reached the point they were living in the main plot of the book. And how Tereze wrote internal dialogue was perfect, like Vanessa saying “Liar!” to herself when she glazed over the truth. Their internal conflict and self-cursing also gave me a few chuckles. And their chemistry was OUT OF THIS WORLD.
If the book had ended at the honeymoon phase or if there was a new conflict introduced when they got home instead of having the MCs refuse to listen to the words they are speaking aloud to each other, this would EASILY have been my favorite read of 2021 so far.

Stories thick with angst and torturous sexual tension are my happy place, and Mrs Middleton was all of that and more. If you enjoy age gap romance between two (sometimes overly dramatic) characters, definitely read this.
minus 1star because the drama with the friend/daughter character was tired and didn’t quite make for a clean ending.
