In 1932, Mitchell Siegel was killed by three gunshots to his chest. While mourning, his son dreamed of a bulletproof man and created the world's greatest hero: Superman. And like Cain's murder weapon, the gun used in this unsolved murder has never been found. Today in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Cal Harper comes face-to-face with his family's greatest secret: his long-lost father, who's been shot with a gun that traces back to Mitchell Siegel's 1932 murder. But before Cal can ask a single question, he and his father are attacked by a ruthless killer tattooed with the ancient markings of Cain.--From publisher description.

Pretty typical thriller in that it keeps a fast pace right from the get go. I was not completely thrilled with the switch from first person to third person and then back and forth. I would have preferred to stay in the third person for this story. I'm not sure how anyone else reading this did, but I thought the hidden bad guy was pretty easy to figure out.
The ending was nice, especially from a father's point of view.

Overall it was a pleasant read, if not my typical reading material.

At one point I like Meltzer... but this one: ugh.

Just when you think the DaVinci knock-offs have gone as far as they can go in the spectrum of ridiculousness, then comes Book of Lies, which tries to tie together mysteries surrounding Cain (from the Bible), a mysterious secretive group of Aryans, and... wait for it... the creator of the Superman comic.

Do yourself a favor and avoid.
