I decided to reread this series again. I'm not sure why. Okay, just kidding. I totally know why. I read this article: Paradise Kiss and the Art of Self Deprecation and wanted to revisit Yukari's relationship with George. Not much has changed in the three years since I first read this, but I'd like to analyze their relationship with a clearer head and without being so emotionally attached to the characters.
I'm still entranced by Yazawa's cute and quirky art style. I'm still in love with the way she crafts "dark" moments in what seems like it should be a light-hearted series. I really feel like this first volume sets the stage for the rest of the series. I stand by my original statement though: it's a bit too fast paced for my tastes.

Ai Yazawa. I love her style in drawing. It's extremely alluring and delicious. All the characters are so attractive. Putting the art aside, the story is a bit cliche and too fast paced. I know this series is only five volumes long, but I'm already wishing it was longer for the story to breathe a bit more. The first volume had a lot to absorb, more than usual. On an unrelated note, Isabella is my favourite character so far (visually that is). He reminds me of the extremely beautiful and unfortunately no longer of this world, Jasmine You.
