Fresh out of rehab, Mallory Quinn takes a job in the affluent suburb of Spring Brook, New Jersey as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their five-year-old son, Teddy.

Mallory immediately loves this new job. She lives in the Maxwell’s pool house, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man in a forest, dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

Review of 'Hidden Pictures' on 'Goodreads'

While certainly making use of some of the standard tropes of the genre it does so well, making Hidden Pictures a compelling paranormal thriller/mystery with horror elements that had me enthralled fully to the extent that I read it over 2 sessions. I found the story to be unique and inventful that had me just wanting to continue reading to find out what happens next. There are a few occasions where if you were really questioning the plot you might consider a couple of things pretty convenient and suspension of disbelief to a degree is necessary, but that goes with the genre's territory and doesn't detract from the story. All in all a fantastic page-turner that I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to any …

Stranger Danger

Hidden Pictures tells the story of a young adult girl, Mallory, recently rehabilitated, who becomes a live-in babysitter to young Teddy, whose pictures begin to tell a story, and Mallory finds herself struggling to solve their purpose. I absolutely loved this book and found it hard to put down from the get-go.

Hidden Pictures is a contemporary novel focusing on recovering opioid addict Mallory as she takes a summer job looking after a young boy. There are supernatural and horror elements, crimes and mysteries to be solved, and a lot for Mallory to work through as she navigates the world sober.

I really enjoyed this new adult novel. I'd love to say more but there were several twists and turns in the novel and it would be a crime to give any of them away. If you enjoy creepy tales with creepy children and ex-junkies who think they're losing their minds, …
