The best thing about this book how artfully the character flaws were developed. Jess, Angie, Margot, and Ryan are incredibly messy human teens. Their poor logic, underdeveloped emotional maturity, and impulsiveness makes the story feel so gratingly real. The plot was well crafted so readers won’t immediately figure out the whodunnit part, but the epilogue—the EPILOGUE! Stay tuned for the final plot twist right at the end of the book.
It’s so enjoyable to read a book whose author hasn’t explicitly spelled out every detail of what happened, and Lo did this exceptionally well with the epilogue. She uses similar dialogue at the end to tie back to earlier moments in the book, and that allows the reader to draw conclusions of what really might have been unfolding for those characters without it being directly written. Simply genius.
