Fermor wrote two amazing travel books, and I was curious to find their genesis. That I did, and also got some backstory on his WWII exploits. He was a classic English gentleman of a certain sort. Of course, by the end, I was somewhat tired of that sort, and his endless sponging and affairs and involvement in various commemorations of his WWII exploits.
