Joel A reviewed Getting Stoned with Savages by J. Maarten Troost

Not as good as the author's first memoir of life in the South Pacific, but still an enjoyable read. He just didn't have as many interesting experiences, he just wasn't as far away from civilization as we know it, and his lesson (that having a child changes you) just isn't very profound. But his voice is still charmingly self-effacing. And there are several laugh-out-loud anecdotes.
