In many ways this was an experimental novel, using several differing narrative styles. Divided into four parts, the author relates the same episodes from four different viewpoints, using a different style for each. The story concerns various members of a Southern family, once wealthy landowners but now struggling to maintain their reputation.
Asked the local library to pick me an early 20th Century classic and i got this. Had no idea what to expect but enjoyed it. It followed on nicely from The Underground Railroad I’d read recently too.

Maya's back in action as her dreams begin to invade her reality and the KALIMA organization seems to be turning against her family.
The story was good and moved quickly. Maya and Nik's romance is as sweet as ever and getting more serious - Nik took Maya to meet his mom! There were some really nice scenes of Maya and her father working together and Joss was fun as always.
All in all a good installment that keeps the series fresh and me wanting more.
