Daunting yet inspiring and hopeful

Before listening to this, I didn't know much about The Green Deal, and by the end of the book I was inspired and hopeful of the transformation it could be bring to society and the economy.

The book is quite sobering at times, as Klein discusses the challenges ahead, and the limited time to act. However, it feels very much like a call to arms to demand the stop of new fossil fuel extraction, preempting groups such as Just Stop Oil.

These essays are variations on a theme: That tackling climate change should entail radical, holistic changes in U.S. policy. The essays circled around events that I was often marginally aware of at the time, e.g. the climate change conference at the Vatican. I appreciate being reminded and schooled in how these events point to her thesis and their details in general. However, I think towards the end I got a bit tired of the repetition.

Typical Klein fare, more in the optimistic vein of This Changes Everything than the depressive force of Shock Doctrine.

It's organized chronologically by essay date, and gets a bit all over the place. Could have been the start of multiple books.
