4 to 4.5 stars. I am still fascinated with the story but how I missed Gavin. He doesn't get a lot of spotlight because of understandable reasons which didn't make me miss him less.

For the majority of the book there's little action, mostly political maneuvering. Andross Guile is a truly vile yet fascinating villain whose agenda I still can't fully understand. This all makes the book feel super slow until things go crazy in the last quarter of the book. I wish action distribution was more spread out.

My highlight were Teia PoV chapters. I love her and wish her the best. I also love Karris. However, Kip, who gets more and more the main protagonist of the series simply doesn't work for me. Unlike Gavin I don't find him charming or even interesting. There's no character growth for me.

I'm on the fence on this series. Sometimes it's really good and sometimes it's very tedious. But when it is good...it is very, very good. Going to continue on, looks like it's going to continue a few more books, but that should be fine.
