Enjoyable and easy read, like the last one. It's always fun to dive back into New Orleans for a bit, although I felt that this book used less name-dropping than its predecessor.
Entertaining read. The author really brings New Orleans to life, with a lot of name-dropping but all of it feels very organic. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
This is by far my favourite children's book from my own childhood. It's been a huge influence on my mind, as I remember or reference sentences from it almost daily. And a great influence - validating all sorts of feelings, never in a judgmental way.
This story unfolds slowly, but ends in an emotional finale. As usual with Morgan Howell’s books, by the end, I cried like a baby. I wanted Nartha to have her release, but also I didn’t want to part ways. The blessing and curse of a good book with characters you come to deeply care about.
