Looking straight down on the circular cap of a bolete mushroom. Its cap is roughly 4 inches across and has a few chomp marks. It is pale red with the inner skin being white/yellow. It is a smooth top that gently angles downward as you get to the edge.

Looking straight down at a the circular cap of a bolete mushroom. There are a few bite marks exposing a whitish flesh. The cap is about 2 ½ inches across and is reddish ochre. It looks sort of velvety. Definitely the kind of mushroom you’d show off if you were a woodland faerie.

A 15 inch long section of a tree trunk or big branch is flat on the forest floor surrounded by rocks, soil, twigs, plants, and moss. The chunk of wood has much of its bark missing, exposing both the light tan inner wood and a blue-green fungus that has colored the wood much like it has been painted on. It is just a staining of the wood, not any of the common mushroom shapes.

Half a Fairy Ring. On a green grassy slope, a half-circle of large white mushrooms has emerged. At the bottom of the slope, a broad river bottom begins and stretches away to the tree-lined river in the distance. The river bottom is planted to soybeans. On the right, a gravel road runs down the slope and continues as a dirt road across the valley.

2. Curly shoot of a giant fern. 🌀
3. Mysterious blobby mushroom. 🐙
4. An underwater egg, or eggshell, of a salamander. 🦎

A coiled fern shoot, shot out of the pile of dead leaves on the sunny forest floor.

The surface of the shoot is slick, but it puts some scaly fluff on.

A clear jelly ball (about 1cm), covered with some dirt, stuck to the mossy river stone under the water.

A rather shapeless blobby head of some mushroom on the dry forest floor.

The delicate flowers and leaves of the wild cherry tree above my head.

It was early morning, and the blossoms were still in the shadow of other trees.

'In laboratory experiments, the scientists found that the cooling rate of their elephant skin-inspired mycelium tile was 25 per cent better than a fully flat mycelium tile, and the heating rate was 2 per cent lower.

They also found that the elephant skin-inspired tile’s cooling effect improved a further 70 per cent in simulated rain conditions, making it suitable for tropical climates.'

Standing at the left of the photo is me, wearing a blue polo and tan shorts. I’m holding a shovel over my shoulder while talking to 15 people, who are in a semi circle. We are in a meadow with leafed trees in the background. In the grass in front of us, is a giant puffball mushroom about the size of a soccer ball. I am getting ready to smash the puffball with the shovel, sending the blackened spores into the air. The looks on the people are a mixture of anticipation and total “what is Dan going to do to us this time?”

The same spot in the meadow is now empty (I have moved the people out of range of the spores) except for me. My backside is visible as I am slamming the shovel into the puffball which has exploded into a dust cloud of millions of spores. In the very center of the photo is an airborne section of the puffball.

The mushroom lamps give me so much pleasure because I love not only their shape but also the colored light they give off in the dark. Even a single one brings so much atmosphere and mood into the room, it's so beautiful! I'm lucky enough to have a whole collection of them. But it's also my bad luck, because the mushrooms need to find new owners. Guys, please “redeem” me from my horrible fate ;3
