Bracket fungi are growing on a log lying on the forest floor. The fungi on the upper surface are brown, while those on the lower surface are paler and whitish.

A macro photograph of a small musroom with a conical striped cap and a long, thin stem. The stem is slightly out of focus. The mushroom grow next to a vertical wooden stick that is about twice as tall as the mushroom and significantly thicker than the stem.

The ground around the mushroom and stick is covered in green moss and the upper part of the background is blurry and dark

Lots of fabulous fungi at the Dundee Botanic Gardens today too.
There were so many coral fungi! Lots of patches and lots in each patch.
And I was hoping to see birds nest Fungi after not seeing any for some years.

A lilac gilled mushroom with the cap turned almost inside out. It has a darker purple stem and is growing out of grass

Three Collared earth stars - a kind of puffball. The puff ball in the centre is surrounded by a circle/rim and the outer surface has split open to form a star shape with the puff in the centre.

Coral fungus- a reef of them! Lots and lots of pale yellow/orange narrow antler-like fungal stems.

Birds nest fungi -Small brown cup like structures growing in woodchip. A finger points to a ‘nest’ with ‘eggs’ in. Each ‘nest’ is smaller than half a fingernail

Today’s waddle was splendid. Bit cold in the wind. Luckily there was some sun. Most mushrooms are gone, but I did see a wonderful candlesnuff #fungus.

The redwings are still very alert Some were kind enough to pose for a few seconds. Also heard the first Fieldfares.

Catch of the day was a Goshawk. It landed in a tree to scan the area.
