Question: is there a term for the category of names of standard artistic topics? I mean, given say, an Annunciation, an Adoration of the Magi, a Crucifixion, a Death of Adonis, and possibly a Shiva Nataraja, is there a category name that covers all of those names or can be used to refer to the set of types of conventional artistic depictions?

Event on September 15: “Shared knowledge graphs as a tool in recovering looted cultural heritage and the histories of marginalized people“. I hope the information provided will be helpful to cultural heritage professionals, provenance researchers, claimants, Holocaust scholars, art crime experts, museum and art market people. (Do not let the words "knowledge graph" scare you. In this talk, I’ll show how we can connect information—people, places, artworks, events—into a kind of map of relationships. Think of it as a network of stories and connections. We can use this to retrieve lost information and to explore hidden networks over long periods of time, which is very useful for Nazi-looted art as well as other kinds of stolen or disappeared cultural heritage.) The event will take place at the Deutsches Zentrum Kulturgutverluste, Außenstelle Berlin, Seydelstraße 18, 10117 Berlin. It is also possible to join the event via Webex. (Register by Sep 12)

A Renaissance painting that's not religious or classical.

It's hard to believe this was about 350 years before Surrealism or Abstract art were popular in Europe.

A pile of books and book-related objects are piled in a way that makes them resemble a bearded man in Renaissance-era clothing.

Il est trop long (il dépasse de 12% environ), il est très imparfait mais il est envoyé. J'attends la relecture mais je sais qu'il faudrait tout de suite continuer à y travailler.

J'ai pu caser mes fontaines aux femmes nues qui crachent du vin par les seins ; Lyon est trop présente & j'ai une magnifique illustration (passera-t-elle en couleurs ?) de l'entrée à Paris en 1514. C'est déjà ça 😅

Détail du manuscrit enluminé de l'entrée de Marie d'Angleterre à Paris en 1514, où on voit sur un mât de bateau un personnage tenant un blason avec des fleurs de lys d'or sur fond bleu ; de part et d'autre, deux personnages en armure sur deux autres mâts et en haut, deux têtes qui soufflent, représentations des vents. Plusieurs personnages sont accrochés aux cordages et portent des vêtements marrons ou bleu. Le manuscrit est conservé en Angleterre.
