Tomorrow dozens of national organizations are teaming up to host protests in cities across the United States. With hundreds of thousands of people hitting the streets for the first time since the effective collapse of the constitutional republic, there’s a growing need to widely disseminate information on keeping ourselves and others safe. To that end, we’re sharing a new zine based on text from @privacyguides, which includes best practices and helpful tips for smartphone security, protests, and mass surveillance. You can read and download the free guide at https://archive.org/details/protesters-guide-to-smartphone-security.

In Asheville, protesters will be rallying in Pack Square from 11am to 1pm. Members of our collective will be there distributing copies of “The Protesters’ Guide to Smartphone Security” along with practical zines for folks interested in taking effective action against fascism.

In news from the quivering bowels of Vichy America, a major liberal law firm has agreed to work for fascists and stop hiring so many women, brown people, or members of the LGBTQ community to placate an aggrieved, would-be dictator and keep raking in those sweet government contracts:

Trump-Targeted Law Firm Caves, Vows $40M in Legal Support to Right-Wing Causes

"President Donald Trump withdrew an executive order targeting a major Democratic-leaning law firm after the firm agreed to provide $40 million in pro bono legal services in support of his administration’s far right initiatives.

“This is unbelievably shameful from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP,” Molly Coleman, executive director at People’s Parity Project, said on LinkedIn. “I’m embarrassed to have any association with this firm that failed to find the courage the moment requires.”

And if legal and less-violent actions are not taken... then sooner or later illegal and violent actions are the only ones left, especially once the fascists have already taken over (as it has happened in the USA).

And as a tactic for opposing fascism, I think …

I finished this last weekend. It’s a great introduction to Norse Paganism. The author stands firm against fascism. In fact, one reason I picked it up is because, when you read reviews, all of the 1’s are because it’s too “woke” and antifa. Not sure what’s wrong with being antifascist…..Anyway, that and the focus on animism was great as well as his quick but informative explanation of the pantheon, Yggdrasil, and the myths. I really felt very comfortable and kind of “at home” with everything he presented, and I’ve already picked up the follow up book. While I’ll most likely never call myself anything but eclectic, I will definitely be incorporating some of this into my practice (more about this in a later post, perhaps). The only thing is the first exercise, which is for the breath, gives me panic attacks. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? I have other approaches, …
