There is no compulsory database for enforcement use-of-force incidents, & we mainly rely on news reporting for any comprehensive account. For 30 years Congress has failed to require use-of-force statistics, & the only thing that exists is voluntary.

The most annoying thing about corporate surveillance to me is the arrogance of the prediction mechanisms.

These algorithms build a model of me based on my clicks from three years ago and then try to trap me in that loop forever. They show me music they think I'll like, and news they think I'll engage with, and videos they think will enrage me enough to keep me hooked to their platforms. They are actively trying to flatten my personality into something easy to monetize.

As most people I've seen say out loud, "Privacy as a concept is way beyond hiding secrets. A part of it also means preserving your capacity to change. To be surprised. To be inconsistent."

If I could tell every human one thing, it would be to actively refuse to be a predictable data point. Mess up their metrics. In whatever way you are …

Wrote and published a new blog post about how I'm going to reclaim my attention span and focus in 2026:

"There is no ā€œpick a serverā€ screen or ā€œfind your instanceā€. There is no friction. This is not ā€œa Mastodon appā€; it is the Tŵt app, purpose-built for our community."

This is a vision of the Social Web which I'm sure many won't agree with or, potentially, won't even understand.

But, like @jaz I'm pretty certain this is the future. We need to make spaces which are accessible to the general user, that just take them where they want to go without a scavenger hunt.

I'm so excited for this app and seeing how it can serve the existing community, Welsh people, and everyone else who wants to call it home šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳ó æ

Britain could ban Elon Musk’s X amid a row over after it emerged that child sexual abuse images had been generated using X’s AI chatbot, Grok undressing women and children in photographs, online safety & compliance. Keir Starmer said that he’d asked media regulator for ā€œall options to be on the tableā€.

I’m amazed that public bodies, government accounts, and the third sector didn’t leave years ago!

"A woman has told the BBC she felt "dehumanised and reduced into a sexual stereotype" after Elon Musk's AI Grok was used to digitally remove her clothing.

The BBC has seen several examples on the social media platform X of people asking the chatbot to undress women to make them appear in bikinis without their consent, as well as putting them in sexual situations."

Sometime around the 2020 era, we lost the right to be mediocre at things we love.

No longer can you just bake bread...you must start a sourdough side hustle lol. Wanna stay fit and go jogging or running? Nah, you gotta optimize your biometrics for a marathon. What my point is that every hobby has been enshittified and gentrified into a brand opportunity.

This strange infatuation with optimization culture is killing the human spirit.

So this new year, starting tomorrow, one of my resolutions is to do something bad but fun. Maybe I write a terrible poem. I like to draw and paint, so perhaps I will draw a horse that looks like a table or sing off-key in the showers or in front of my loved ones. The algorithm driving the mainstream social media wants me to be a polished product, but my humanity lives in …

Big Tech platforms routinely censor any mention of the , so I've started designing, printing, and placing these stickers around town.

No idea if they get any scans, but I figure simply getting the word "fediverse" out there might raise the consciousness a little.

Any ideas for slogans that might pique the interest of facebook-addicted normies?

Edit: I'm so glad this post has gotten so much attention, because I think it's a good idea, and I'd love to see others run with it. I know nothing about making stickers and wouldn't have made these had I not been gifted a small toy printer with a few rolls of sticker paper. Hopefully someone out there can do a more professional job of it :)
