Africa and The Mercator Map | Encyclopaedia Britannica

"The African Union has endorsed a campaign calling for the use of a world map that reflects countries' true sizes. Why doesn't our current world map do that?"

1/ I do not have any further -themed folk tales to share for this , but I do want to share the interactive map for German folk tales I am working on at the moment. It can be found on my new installation, and uses the combined power of , , and to dynamically generate maps with the accurate location of the German folk tales I have translated. 🎂 OTD 2014: publication of the discovery of Laniakea

"A map of the local Universe has enabled researchers to find the boundaries of Earth's home supercluster, which they name Laniakea."

Eternal Realms - An invitation to discover fantasy worlds of storytelling, as you look down at a tavern table in a distant land of your choosing. Upon it, several items reinforce the mood and give away important cues. But the real focus is on the map, as it is evocative of a sense of adventure, that is fulfilled when we roll dice and share storytelling moments.

I'm working on a folded 2-sided map of Vancouver/Victoria--Here's the 3rd and last part of the back side...the region around Vancouver.

Hi, my name is Wouter and I am an artist, designer and cartographer specialized in fantasy storytelling and tabletop gaming. The Voyager’s Workshop is where I help creators, authors, publishers and gamers tell stories that they live, tell and are a part of!

You can view my most recent work on my website’s gallery page, including a video reel of projects and commissions: https://thevoyagersworkshop.com/pages/gallery

I am toying with the idea to build a (physical) globe 🌍 myself. Preferably using and maybe Inkscape for final touches (or other OS tools).

I would like to design the globe as far as possible in QGIS and then use an appropriate projection to output the lobes. Then glue to a sphere using wallpaper glue etc. - I imagine it difficult to get the labels right.

Surprisingly, I can find few resources on how to approach such a project.

Any pointers or own experience?

Some years ago, I saw a site on which you can switch between different map projections and select any point on the Earth as the center point.
It was really cool, but I've never been able to find it again. 😕

This map is one of the first few dozen of the series. They're based on maps from https://www.davidrumsey.com.
