Now that I’ve followed seven painting tutorials by Bob Ross, here is my first attempt at painting a landscape using what I learned. Bob encourages his viewers to use his techniques to create their own worlds, and so I used my own color choices and composition here, made up entirely from my imagination. Bob uses a lot more brown and gray than I like to paint. So I let loose and used brighter colors. Unlike Bob, I used a set of five basic mixing colors of Royal Talens gouache in CMYKW. This little painting is 4.5” square on cotton paper. #painting #gouache #art #landscaped

Here’s my second attempt at a Bob Ross tutorial using gouache. I tried using my palette knife like Bob did to make the mountains, but the scale was off since the knife is big, and my painting is small. So I switched back to a brush and found that getting the texture right for the snow didn’t quite work as instructed. I’m also finding that gouache doesn’t blend as easily as oil paint, making the sky more speckled than I’d like. I have learned about how to paint reflections in ponds including that little white edge that goes right where the water meets the river bank.

Masto hivemind:
Bit of a longshot here, but I was just recalling a site I used to love flipping through years ago for its (digital?) artwork, that was called something like... Paintbrush? Or something equally everyday like that? Brushstroke? No, that's not it...
It's some posted art of one artist who does some pretty spectacular paintings that go from fantasy to sci-fi. It's a distinct style that has some detail while also omitting others, like a lot of faces were blurred out and/or abstract.
They all struck me as looking like some were part of longer storylines, but I didn't see or read of any arcs that explained any.
I just tried seaching for "paintbrush", and of course came across everything connected to that term but not this guy's site.
Again, a long shot, but any chance anyone knows what the site is called, or …
