Does your antagonist believe in the supernatural?

I dunno who the antagonist(s) even is (are) right now, but that's kind of a trick question, tbh. Magic exists. Strange and magical creatures exist. Things beyond our and their current understanding exist. Fk, I exist and I'm a tiefling. So calling those SUPERnatural implies that they like, exist outside of the natural order or reality as it is. And tbh, if something exists then it is by definition not outside that order.

Okay so maybe I dunno, it is UNnatural, like not a thing that exists without intervention. Driders are a good example. Uhm, hn. Golems. Plastic for sure. Dubstep (jk).

And maybe it's not naturally occuring on the current plane of existence so it's extraplanar, as in from elsewhere or other realities.

But supernatural? Paranormal? They're easy shorthand but tbh they are sort …

Ulysses reviews "Resurrecting My Magic" by Timoteo Tong

"The loudest message in this literary two-part series is that homophobia sucks and that teenage bullying is something that should be prevented and stopped by adults who are, after all, the guardians of our children. Oh, and saving the universe from the forces of evil, too. So much fun. 5 stars."

Sherry reviews "The Talking Cure" by Kathy L. Brown:

"An engaging noirish ghost story... The noirish and Lovecraftian aspects are accentuated by the differing points of view, and a clever use of nursing and psychiatrist notes as part of the narrative. 4.5 stars for a spooky, eldritch horror story cleverly written in noirish style."

Beáta reviews "That Lesbian Vampire Pirate Story" by Raven Belasco:

"1860s New York. Sadie “the Goat”, a young woman who makes her living any way she can (mostly crime), decides that she’d had enough from the difficult conditions on the streets, and becomes a pirate instead.... an interesting and fast-paced novella that leaves you wanting more. I would recommend it. Also, the title is really cool."

12/14 Shameless someone else promotion day.

Right now, I'm reading a lot by Kai Butler. (Who is not on Mastodon, alas.)

She writes MM romance, but while there is some spice, it's mostly about the adventure and problems the MCs have to solve.

If you want to start with a stand-alone, I can recommend Smoke and Mirrors. I even wrote a Bookwyrm review for it.
