"Americans are dying in droves. Deaths due to avoidable causes in the United States –which could be dealt with via prevention or proper healthcare – far outpace those in most of country’s peers in the industrialized world. Most notably, Americans die of treatable conditions at nearly twice the rate as Spaniards, French, Japanese and Australians.

They would most likely live longer if they enjoyed better access to healthcare. Americans are the most likely to skip a doctor’s appointment due to its cost, the most likely to skip a medical test and to skimp on prescription drugs. This is unsurprising, given the extraordinary lack of public health insurance in the United States. Americans face the highest out-of-pocket expenses for medical services in their peer group.

Donald Trump evidently does not believe this is an issue for the world’s richest nation.

If the budget for 2027 the White House …

The most insane part is that The Right™️ that people turn to when the social contract crumbles not only have no solutions to it; what they want/propose will only make matters 1000 times worse.

This is well-documented fact, but nobody learns it in school, no news outlets or politicians tell it & when people experience it for themselves they're gaslit with extreme prejudice.

Fascism thrives on this engineered blind spot as much as anger.

Discuss.

Once again, Cory puts words to something I’ve been trying to express for a while.

„When public services go wrong, people don't always know who to blame, but they definitely notice that something is going wrong, so when public services fail, people stop trusting the state, and that social contract starts to fray. They start to suspect that elites are lining their pockets rather than managing the system, and they "withdraw their support" for the system.“

"Good public services are the basis for 'the social contract between rulers and the ruled'"
"[...] so when public services fail, people stop trusting the state, and that social contract starts to fray."

"Fascists thrive in these conditions. Fascists come to power by mobilizing grievances."

LA Times: ‘Amateur hour at the U.S. attorney’s office’: L.A. prosecutors face more losses in protest cases

"...Federal prosecutors in L.A. have lost every assault on a federal officer case they’ve brought to trial against immigration protesters.

A federal judge criticized the U.S. attorney’s office as “amateur hour” after prosecutors failed to disclose evidence during an assault trial...."

I am leaving the university system, possibly forever, at the end of this month. I will be living in the woods, studying mathematics and (hopefully) farming enough to survive. I have posted an essay explaining why I'm doing this on my website:

“There has to be some kind of a movement, because they are insulting our intelligence by thinking, ‘Oh, we can get over on them by blaming it on the other party,’” [TMZ founder Levin] said. “It’s not the other party, it’s both parties, and we are kind of sick of the way they are patronizing us.”

No, Mr. Levin, it's the other party--MY former party, the one THAT CONTROLS ALL BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT right now--the party that ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to fund essential DHS functions unless we also fund their .

Democrats are using the only tool they currently have, to FIGHT fascism the way REAL Americans ARE SUPPOSED TO. And 'We, the People' are sick of how media oligarchs LIKE YOU are patronizing us by continuing to pretend this is all just politics as usual.

New World Order

"We have enemies. They are not in Palestine. They are not in Lebanon. They are not in Iran. They are here. Among us."

"They dictate our lives. They are traitors to our ideals. They are traitors to our country. They envision a world of slaves & masters."

"Gaza is only the start. There are no internal mechanisms for reform."

"We can obstruct or surrender. Those are the only choices left."

Make sure people know: DONALD TRUMP says airports will stay fucked until Democrats agree to vote for the Women's Disenfranchisement ("save") Act.

Tell everybody who complains about airports, everyone who complaints about gas prices, anyone who complains about anything: Donald Trump HIMSELF will not let it get fixed UNTIL 21 MILLION WOMEN are disenfranchised.

And that they need to strap in and hold steady, because we cannot let that happen.

NPR: The Postal Service may be out of cash in 2027 without Congress' help, postmaster says

"...If it continues business as usual, the U.S. Postal Service is on track to run out of cash for paying its workers and vendors in about a year and may have to stop deliveries..."

The best I've seen for responding to the crazy political times:

@pluralistic interviewed about the idea of "Nuremberg Caucus", boldly and explicitly publicly planning for the day when criminal actions will go to trial so that people understand that criminal behavior is being noted right now (so maybe don't do it)
